Here's an idea: How about a contact trainer? Those of us without the room (or not wanting to move big stuff to mow around) could still use that to teach the contacts.

I think that a lot of times puppy parents start to act like the adults in Toddlers and Tiaras when it comes to showing off their dogs. They forget that it's supposed to be about fun! That's why I really liked your post. Me and my pup love to run and jump together, which is why I got him into agility events in the first place. We keep that in mind, but I see a lot of others at the competitions who take it far too seriously.

Awesome! I just finished making a set of jumps for a student and found I was 1 set of jump cups short. I usually buy the 'Clip N Go' variety and though I like them, and the $9.95/10 price is reasonable, paying another $10 for shipping is not. I'm going to just make the last pair. Thanks much !!

I love being able to teach my dog tricks. I agree it really does, in a way, keep their brains in shape. I tend to go for the dog agility equipment to start out with. Then I know they are capable of a lot of the tricks I want to teach them. Thanks for the lesson on tricks Allie!

Quick Question: what would the measurements be on the pipe dividers, if we want to make it 22" or 24" spacing? would it be 20" for 22" spacing and 22" for 24" spacing? I'm getting redy to go get the stuff cause I like your design! :)

I have a question about the Dura Snap parts. That seems like the best solution for jump cups. But the part is 3/4". Will these snap onto (and stay on) the 1" vertical uprights on my jumps?
Thanks.

Built the entire jump, unfortunately I can't find the necessary supplies for jump cups. I've looked at the alternatives and, unfortunately, I think I might just give in and buy some because binder clips don't come large enough for the 1" PVC (at least not at any stores I've gone to).

It also appears that I either didn't push things in quite right or the jump cups take up a lot of room because my 4' jump pole barely goes the length of the jump. I will just have to buy more and have a bit longer of a practice jump.

Even without the jump cups and smaller bar it can still be used as a cavaletti and my dog and I have been practicing that way. We're just beginning so she doesn't need height.

I think it is usually used for plumbing. At least, I find PVC stuff in the plumbing area of my local hardware store. It might be that the standards where you live are for 2-inch pipe and not the 1-inch stuff. If you go to Lowes and can't find it, try asking someone in the plumbing department and describe what you want to use it for. They might be able to suggest an alternative (or an alternative store to try).
